Barbell velocity from a phone video.
Measured on your device.

Film a lift and VelocityLift turns it into velocity-based training data: mean and peak bar speed, range of motion, velocity loss — for every single rep. The analysis runs entirely on your phone. No cloud, no account, no waiting.

WORLD FIRST Front & Back Barbell Tracking

First VBT App Tracking from Front & Back Angles

No room beside the rack in a crowded gym? VelocityLift's on-device neural network tracks bar speed, horizontal tilt, and symmetry directly from the front or behind — no side camera angle required.

ZERO CLOUD

100% On-Device & Offline

Your lift videos never leave your phone. Full privacy, no account required, and instant rep analytics in a fraction of a second.

$0 HARDWARE

Full Linear Encoder Precision

Saves $300–$600 on external sensors: sub-pixel bar tracking at 60 / 120 FPS delivers lab-grade mean & peak velocity, ROM, and velocity loss.

REAL-TIME FEEDBACK Live Pro Feature

Live Rep Counter & Audio Cues

Instant audio cues trigger the moment your target velocity loss is reached — effortless autoregulation for every set.

Automatic Plate Tracking

Calibrates against the standard 450 mm plate diameter and tracks bar velocity for every single rep.

How it works

From video to velocity in three steps

Step 1

Film your set

Record in the app or import a clip from your gallery. Side-on at plate height is ideal — filming from the front or behind the lifter works too. That is all the setup it needs.

Step 2

Mark the plate

VelocityLift finds your plates automatically — including a full stack — and calibrates against the known 450 mm diameter. Not happy with the box? One tap corrects it.

Step 3

Train by the numbers

Every rep is segmented and measured: velocity, range of motion, velocity loss, duration. Your history stays on the phone and works without internet.

What you get

Every rep, measured

The same metrics a lab-grade linear position transducer reports — estimated from the video your phone already shoots.

Mean concentric velocity (m/s)The core output of every rep — the number velocity-based training is built on.
Peak velocity (m/s)The fastest point of each rep, for explosive intent and bar-speed work.
Range of motion (cm)Depth and consistency, tracked rep by rep instead of guessed.
Velocity loss (%)The fatigue signal across a set — the classic cue for when to rack the bar.
Rep duration (s)Tempo and eccentric control at a glance.
RPE & 1RM estimatesEffort and one-rep-max estimates derived from your measured velocities.
Hardware vs. Video

VelocityLift vs. Traditional Linear Position Transducers

Linear position transducers (LPTs) like GymAware and Vitruve have historically been the reference standard in elite strength & conditioning, but require $450 to $2,000 tether hardware. VelocityLift delivers encoder-grade precision directly from your smartphone camera — with zero cords, zero hardware cost, and unique front-angle tracking.

VelocityLift uses on-device LiteRT and Core ML computer vision calibrated against standard 450 mm Olympic plates to deliver consistent, reproducible VBT data for squats, bench presses, and deadlifts.

Under the hood

Built like an instrument, not a toy

Automatic plate detection

An on-device vision model finds your plates from any angle — side-on, from the front or behind the lifter — and reads the stack by weight class. A tap always gets you a usable box.

Calibration you can trust

The known 450 mm plate diameter is the entire scale: one physical reference turns pixel motion into metres per second. No measuring tape, no setup ritual.

Live rep tracking Pro

Count reps live while recording, set a target RPE for the set and get a signal when you have done enough.

Exercise recognition

Squat, bench, deadlift and more are recognised from the movement itself, with per-exercise depth thresholds.

Personalised RPE Pro

The effort model learns from the RPE ratings you confirm, instead of a one-size-fits-all textbook curve.

True bar path Pro

The bar path drawn in the plate's own plane — what an exactly side-on, level camera would have filmed.

Overlay video export

Bar path and velocity burned into the clip, ready to share. Every measurement stays free; Pro removes the signature from the export.

Background analysis Pro

Lock the phone or pocket it while a long clip analyses — a notification brings the result.

Optional sync

Mirror your training history across devices with an optional account. Your videos never sync — the cloud copy is data, not footage.

Privacy

Your videos never leave your phone

This is the part most fitness apps get wrong, so it is the core of VelocityLift: there is no cloud analysis to trust. Tracking, plate recognition and every derived number are computed on your device — the app works in airplane mode.

The two things that can leave your phone are off by default and opt-in: an anonymous, face-redacted image crop when you correct a detection mistake (strictly to improve the detector), and an optional account that syncs your training history between your own devices.

Free vs Pro

Every measurement is free

Unlimited sets, unlimited analyses, every metric — free. Pro adds convenience for people who live in the app; it never changes what a lift measured.

FAQ

Questions lifters actually ask

How does VelocityLift compare to linear position transducers like GymAware or Vitruve?

VelocityLift replaces $300 to $2,000 cord-based hardware sensors with sub-pixel 60/120 FPS optical tracking running directly on your smartphone. It requires zero extra hardware, sets up in under 10 seconds, runs 100% offline without mandatory subscriptions, and supports filming from the front, back, or side.

Can I measure barbell velocity from the front or behind the lifter?

Yes. VelocityLift is the world's first VBT app engineered with dedicated front and back camera tracking. Its on-device neural network detects the barbell shaft and horizontal bar tilt without requiring a circular side plate profile, making it ideal for tight gym racks.

How accurate are the measurements?

Accuracy depends on calibration and camera position: film side-on at plate height with the plate fully visible — the front or back of the lifter works as well — and the known 450 mm plate diameter sets the scale. Treat every number as a training estimate, not a lab result — consistent camera placement gives consistent, comparable data, which is what VBT decisions need.

Does it work offline?

Yes — completely. Detection, tracking and analysis run on the device, and your history is stored locally. The only things that touch the internet are optional: an account sync, redeeming credits, or a store purchase.

Which phones does it support?

Android 10 or newer today. An iOS version is in development.

Do I need special equipment?

A standard Olympic plate (450 mm) as the calibration reference and your phone camera. The app recognises common plate sizes on its own and calibrates from the known diameter.

What data leaves my device?

Nothing for measurement — that is the point. Optional and opt-in only: anonymous, face-redacted crops when you correct a detection, your training history if you enable an account, and your purchases through Google Play. Details in the privacy policy.

Which languages does the app speak?

English and German, matching your system language.
